Review of Casino Jack (2010) by Joe L — 12 Nov 2010
Casino Jack is a fine, gripping political film that shows great direction from George Hickenlooper and was sadly his last film to get made. Kevin Spacey does a fantastic job as the corrupt lobbyist Jack Abramoff.
While Abramoff was a dick in helping in ways with the events that unfolded, Spacey offers his character in the film a lot of good humor to relinquish some of the more dramatic scenes. Barry Pepper and Jon Lovitz give notable supporting roles with Pepper's being the more tolerable one.
Even if one is unfamiliar with the true events, the film does a good job incorporating it all on screen as well as not taking forever to develop the characters. It probably won't be huge at the box office but if it does get a decent amount, Spacey may just get a little recognition.
Solid stuff.
