The Abramoff story is a rich source for a splendid piece of political/social criticism. But, it falls flat. While the account of the actual deals that allegedly took place will still make your hair stand on end, the humor introduced (unnecessarily) kills any valid comment on the events.

Instrumental characters are reduced to caricatures and thereby become totally preposterous and ineffective. A great chance was missed here.
