Review of Casino (1995) by Daniel A — 04 Dec 2011
Martin Scorcese's Casino might carry that all too familiar feeling of yet another Scorcese-DeNiro mob flick, but there's enough here to keep you glued to the screen throughout its lengthy 180 minutes.
From the triple threat of great performances (with Sharon Stone somehow upstaging both Harvey Keitel and Robert DeNiro) to Scorcese's trademark handling of the material with such style and suspense, this time set against the glamorous yet seedy backdrop of Las Vegas.
This is far from the auteur's best work, but it's also nothing to sniff at, and carries enough merit to make it worth any film fan's time.
