Review of Casino (1995) by Mikewazowski2 — 11 May 2019
One of the best movies of 1995, but alas, sadly, it wasn’t even up for best picture the year it came out and I really don’t understand why. This is probably Scorsese’s most overlooked film. Casino is a great movie and so underrated by a lot of people. Should really have a higher score than it has right now from critics. This is one of the best movies I’ve seen in my life, I’d put it right under Goodfellas and slightly above the Departed. It’s under appreciated and this is a movie that doesn’t get talked about enough. If you are easily offended by violence and swearing, then this film or any of Scorsese’s movies for that matter, might not be for you. But if you’re a big, diehard Scorcese fan or just into gangster movies or cinema in general, I consider this one a must watch. Make your own opinions on the film and go ahead and rate it. Overall, I give this movie a very high 9/10. Amazing soundtrack and great acting make this an excellent movie watching experience. Sharon Stone, Joe Pesci, and Robert De Niro really nailed it.
In my opinion, almost as great as Goodfellas, like right up there. If you’re a little bit squeamish, well, you should still enjoy it. That’s all I have to say.
