Review of Casino (1995) by Noname — 07 Dec 2014
Casino is a movie full of strong performances, dazzling cinematography and a perfect soundtrack only legendary director Martin Scorsese could assemble. De Niro and Pesci are at their best, with Pesci giving an Oscar worthy performance as Nicky.
Santoro(not all that dissimilar to Pesci's Tommy De Vito five years earlier in Goodfellas). Sharon Stone I believe gave her best performance to date and completely worthy of her Golden Globe win and Academy Award nomination, playing Ginger McKenna a hustler who De Niro's character Ace Rothstein falls in love with at first sight which proves to be the first of Ace's mistakes in the movie. De Niro delivers a flawless performance which is as sharp as the suits his character wears. De Niro plays as a low level mob associate who is tasked with running the Tangiers casino in Las Vegas, Ace tries to keep the day to day running of the casino and the "skim" as smooth as possible until childhood friend Nicky comes to town.
