Review of Cashback (2007) by Lucas Y — 03 Jan 2009
An unusual combination of teen comedy and romance, Cashback is about an art student who develops insomnia after he breaks up with his girlfriend. He takes up a night job at a grocery store where he literally freezes time for inspiration for his artwork and to really appreciate true beauty, mostly nude women.
This started off slow and full of cliches and even some bathroom humor, but quickly pulled out of that to create a beautiful story with a pleasant ending. Cashback is a story about having a broken heart and finding the perfect other half of yourself.
It's about beauty. The ending when he freezes time outside in the snow is awesome. Keeley Hazell is one of the hottest women I've ever seen. Even if you don't like these little independent artsy films, you'll appreciate all the female nudity.
