Review of Cashback (2007) by Aleix R — 20 Apr 2012
Cashback is quite a lighthearted and whimsical take on on the romantic comedy. It doesn't fall into the usual traps that the typical movies of the genre do. It's not overly predictable, overly melodramatic, or overly comedic.
Instead it finds a pleasant balance through telling a unique, yet famailiar story. It's hard not to feel the main character's depression throughout most of the movie, but it never overpowers and instead it helps both him and the audience to start to see beauty in the everyday.
There are some small flaws, largely on the techincal side, but that is normal for lower budget and independant films. Certainly a movie I would recommend, for its uniqueness and positive outlook.
