In order to truly enjoy Casa de Mi Padre you have to be familiar with Telenovelas and it helps to speak Spanish so you can here Ferrell's terrible accent and enjoy it for its comedic value. Casa de mi Padre is pretty darn funny if the prerequisites are met otherwise it loses most of its comedy on the viewer.
I will say however that Will Ferrell earned a ton of respect for attempting a part like this and doing it in a language that is foreign to him.
