I like so many others was led to believe this would be some sort of awesome comeback movie, where Lightning would take a serious hit and then make a comeback. I mean some of the artwork, like this one where Lightning is out all alone on the road and a huge, ominous storm is ahead of him.
That looked so cool! But the movie is instead a mess of various movie plots, rehashed stuff from the first movie, age-shaming to both over and under 30's, stereotypes about ages and genders, as well as lack lustre characters and a terrible role model character for girls.
Cruz is a useless trainer, useless outside, in no way helps train Lightning get better or more high tech, and cheats her way to stardom. I mean she has to be given everything and wait for others to do it for her.
That's not a good role model for girls at all. The whole movie is just a disappointing mess about messaging with a half-assed, only somewhat kid friendly plot and not funny at all. Can't believe Pixar made this.
