Review of Carrie (2013) by Scott T — 27 Feb 2014
Shoot me if I say I don't think the original Carrie was a classic everyone says it is. Honestly would put down as the weakest material for two greats like Sissy Spacek and Brian De Palma. It wasn't until the much hated sequel Carrie 2 The Rage which I happened to like and gave me more appreciation for the original.
Still not going to say the original was a classic nor its sequel or remake for that matter. As the remake goes I am not going to compare Chloe Moretz to Sissy Spacek because at the time of the original I do not believe Spacek's performance spoke of the great actress she has always been.
Chloe Moretz is one of the great risings among young actresses and she nails the Carrie character better than Sissy Spacek did in the original. Even Julianne Moore gives a superior performance as the mother.
Storywise its just more of a modern take on the original with slightly better directing but no means going to become a horror horror classic. Just one of those you got to enjoy it for what it is.
