Review of Carrie (2013) by David B — 06 Aug 2014
It was never going to match the brilliance of the original but this remake isn't that bad. It is a slick and glossy make over and does stay true to the material with an updated twist. The cast are good, with great performances and a film that has wonderful special effects.
It does feel like the film is too short and instead of developing characters it seems to interested in getting to the point and focus the build-up of the prom scene. Of course if you've seen the original then you know what to expect, it's disappointing that it didn't focus more of the book.
Very watchable though and a decent, if not fully perfect, remake. Better than the original sequel though (Carrie 2: The Rage).
