Review of Carol (2015) by Amanda C — 01 May 2016
A beautiful and nuanced portrait of two women falling in love, Carol is more than simply a romance. Todd Haynes manages to capture the hurdles these women face in everyday life as women as well as lesbians living in an era when being either was paramount to being less than fully human.
Cate Blanchette is wonderful as always, bring a cool, quite despiration to her glamorous Carol. However, it is Rooney Mara's film. She matches Blanchette step for step, proving that she has the ability to become on the best actors currently working.
