A lot of hoopla for an unhappy married woman who decides to leave her husband for another person who happens to be a woman. Woop ti do! The attention to detail regarding the era and Cate Blanchett lighting up the screen almost as a superhero are far more impressive than the long, predictable climax (pun intended) of this well made soap opera.
If "Carol" wins an Oscar, it will be just another example of how slow the academy is to regard a pedestrian level storyline opera as ground breaking art. Feh.
