I hate to say it but I was completely underwhelmed. To say this movie was a slow burn is a understatement. The movie felt like it was at one pace the entire time and so was both of the lead performances.
Blanchett And Mara are both fine here but rarely do either of them go above the register of "blah". The film is quite beautifully filmed and the aesthetic of the 50's is great I just felt like nothing was ever happening even when something was.
