Review of Carol (1990) by Lenny R — 05 Sep 2016
Beautifully written, shot, and acted slow-burner about the obstacles, trials and consequences of 'forbidden' love. The Blanch has always given off an old-school movie star vibe, and here she looks like one too, given the period costuming and the casting of matinee-idol-alike Kyle Chandler as her ex-husband.
Not to belittle her performance, though; she's as brilliant as ever. Mara is great too, and she and Cate have fantastic chemistry beneath their characters' individual goings-on. Love Carter Burwell's score.
Tops all round.
