Review of Carol (1990) by Elizabeth N — 07 Oct 2018
Carol, is an interesting period piece and romantic drama sprinkled with some humorous moments. The movie is directed by Todd Haynes who clearly has a knack for depicting stifled yet smoldering emotions that eventually explode on the screen; for those of who you who don't remember, Haynes directed Far From Heaven.
<<>>This movie quickly ended up being one of my favorite LGBT films because of its somewhat unique ending. Think of other movies such as High Art and more recently, Blue is the Warmest Color.
It's on the rarer side to find a movie where the characters actually end up together. The movie took over 11 years to make, and perhaps celebrating the ending now makes more sense in light of the political turn of events.
Carol is still playing in theaters but you can preorder the movie on Amazon so you can view it at home when it becomes available.
