Review of Carol (1974) by Alex T — 18 Dec 2015
An exquisite beauty of a film - wonderfully directed with a fantastically modest tone, and two of the best lead performances anyone could hope for. The subject matter is sensitive yet simple, and I found myself emotionally engaged till the last second with both characters, hoping for a positive outcome. Rooney Mara's eyes are something quite extraordinary, and Oscars for both would be richly deserved.
Despite all the acclaim, it was a film I didn't think I could possibly like, yet found faultless, engaging and effortlessly impressive.
