Review of Carnival of Souls (1962) by Ben A — 12 Mar 2008
For those with a taste for a slightly slower paced chill, this is one of the best. I felt it was quite creepy, despite an almost nonexistent budget and the rather uneven pace.
You probably won't jump out of your seat or anything, but this is a film that clearly is at the roots of many other films (Night of Living Dead seems to be most commonly sighted, but many contemporary ghost story films also fit.).
And really that's what this is, a ghost story.
