Review of Carnival of Souls (1962) by Bryan W — 13 Mar 2009
Though it may seem kind of boring by modern standards, this film clearly had intelligent, creative people behind it. The score, writing, and directing are all top-notch for the time period and the makers succeeded in giving the film a unique and terrifying look while maintaining a stark tone.
Its effect was profound on filmmakers ranging from George Romero (Night of the Living Dead) and Adrian Lyne (Jacob's Ladder), so it maintains a draw as valuable viewing for any dedicated fan of horror cinema.
