Review of Carnival of Souls (1962) by Sakari L — 12 May 2009
Wow! This early 1960's B-horror movie is strangely creepy even 50 years later. Here less is truly more: the haunting, repetitive score, low budget looks and overall off beat feel create an exceptionally "nightmarish" atmosphere to the Poe-inspired story.
An accidental masterpiece or not, one should watch it as a counter example to all the rubbish horror films of today (absolutely no gore or cheap jumps here).
