Review of Carnival of Souls (1962) by Joshua L — 20 Jun 2009
Well photographed 'B-movie' from the early 60's. Definetley a bit hooky and slow paced at time but beautifully photographed and genuinly eerie at times. The sppoky organ soundtrack adds a lot to the atmosphere.
You can see the seeds of zombie movies, 'The Shining' and loads of David Lynch movies in it. The back story behind the seeting -'Salt-air amusement park' outside Salt Lake City, Utah is really fasciniating and there a nice slide show and essay about it on the DVD i've got.
