Review of Carnal Knowledge (1971) by Suveera A — 01 May 2008
An excellent and greatly conceived character study of two male best friends and the exploration of their personal sexual lives which are sort of intertwined together on the emotional and mental levels.
Their personal attitudes and lives are revealed through their sexual exploits, beginning in college and lasting well into middle-age. Both Nicholson and Garfunkel gave heart-felt performances rich in good detail.
Director Nichols was right on the money for making an exceptionally daring film which hasn't dated at all, which means it isn't for all tastes.
