Review of Carnal Knowledge (1971) by Samuel C — 01 Apr 2011
I'm not really a Mike Nichols fan, and even remember hating his CATCH 22 adaptation, but I've wanted to see this for a while. Besides being surprised at Turner Classic showing near full nudity, Nichols delivers an almost experimental film with clinically cold and stylized performances that superbly illustrates sexual politics of a postwar generation that never seems to mature beyond a sense of immediate fulfillment into one of a giving and accepting nature.
