Review of Carnage (2011) by Simone H — 19 Jul 2012
A very dialogue-driven film, which is a challenge worthy to Polanski. The build-up is very good as the characters shows a lot of subtext suggesting their dislike of each other and it becomes increasingly fascinating when their transforms from a civilized discussion into childish lashouts.
A little after the middle there is a point where it feels dragging, but the authentic performances from each actor saves it.
Along with distinctive characters, the cinematography is splendid and the set design oozes of great simplistic detail!
Carnage won't stand on the same line with Knife in the Water, Repulsion Rosemary's Baby, The Tenant or The Pianist for that matter. But is always worth a watch.
