Review of Carnage (2002) by Ben L — 30 Jul 2012
"Carnage." I have heard alot about this film, mostly good things, and I have been eagerly waiting to see it. I finally came around to renting it, and I have to say, this really is a good movie.
First off, what I was surprised about was how well they pulled off the "same location" type of plot, and I was really enjoying myself throughout. Also, the direction by Roman Polanski is very good and it is beautiful to look at. The script is strong and the storyline is good, but perhaps the most beneficial part of this film is the performaces. Kate Winslet and Jodie Foster give fantastic performaces, (I think Foster's was Oscar worthy), and Christoph Waltz is simply stunning and amusing, never failing in a single line. The biggest surprise however is John C. Reilly, who not only gives a funny performance, but a great one.
The only flaws I have is there were a couple lines I thought sounded too "staged" and the ending kind of angered me by how abrupt it was. But other than that, I really like this movie, and say it's definately worth watching.
