Review of Carlito's Way (1993) by Thom R — 24 Oct 2009
I must have watched this film about three, four times in the last month, and every time I watch it, I notice something new about it that I find enjoyable. Aside from this, as I used to consider Scarface my favourite film, ever since watching this for the first time, this changed my mind, and topped that list. It's not even just due to me being a huge Al Pacino fan, more so, that he manages to play a gangster character very well.
The emotions fit the film well throughout, particularly the part of sleazy lawyer Kleinfeld played by Sean Penn, especially after receiving a death threat, and his subsequent breakdown after that.
In my opinion, a true masterpiece.
