Review of Carlito's Way (1993) by Lester C — 31 Oct 2012
Carlito's Way.
A voice for the criminally convicted via one powerful romantic thriller was made in 1993. Ten years after Brian de Palma directed Scarface, he teams up once again with the great Al Pacino to make one of my favorite films of all time, Carlito's Way. Based on two novels written by a supreme court judge, Carlito's Way takes us out of a penitentiary, into the streets of Harlem, through a drug deal gone bad, and into a cruise-ship-themed club. All while waiting to 'escape to paradise', Pacino shares the stage with the beautiful Penelope Ann Miller, the talented Sean Penn, the gifted John Leguizamo, and the comical Luis Guzman. With less gun action than a regular gangster movies, breath-taking cinematography, tear jerking poetry, and a plot that keeps you on the edge of your seat, Carlito's Way is a must see and a must have. Earning a 10 out of 10 rating, and from my Top Ten Movie List, I'm sorry to say that you should be over 18 to see.
