Review of Carlito's Way (1993) by Marcus W — 15 Apr 2009
Criminal comes out of jail, attempts to go straight only to find himself mixed up in crime again. I didn't think much of Pacino in this film, he seemed to still be playing his tough guy role left over from Godfather.
Where this film really succeeds is in the support (Mortensen, Leguizamo and especially Penn), and the direction. De Palma may not be the best at plot/character, but the way he uses a camera is just beautiful to watch.
