Review of Carlito's Way (1993) by Justin S — 09 May 2009

For me, it was a better installment than Scarface. I didn't mind the characters. I thought the performances were good overall. The thing is it was a tad long. I'm normally not one to complain, but Brian De Palma's obsession with things over-the-top can magnify the experience of that length to the point that it gets annoying. If you ever watch it, remember that the movie is deliberately being over-the-top.

I guess I liked everything about the movie itself; it's just that its over-the-top nature got in the way of the enjoyment.
