Review of Carlito's Way (1993) by Jeremy H — 18 Oct 2009
***1/2 (out of four).
A drug dealer, played by Al Pacino, is released early from a prison stint thanks to his crooked lawyer (Sean Penn). He tries to go straight, but the world he lives in makes it very difficult to earn an honest buck.
One of Brian De Palma's better thrillers with a good, though typical part for Pacino. Sean Penn is excellent as the shifty lawyer and should have earned an Oscar nomination for the part.
