Review of Carlito's Way (1993) by Dilan B — 26 Jan 2010
One of Pacino's best, even better than Scarface. (I went there) This story has developed character development and the plot is mostly based on back story. Carlito is trying to lead a new life free of crime, but all his old crime buddies keep dragging him back in.
The camera work is particularly excellent. The elevator scene has some nice tension with its editing and there are some great tracking shots in the Welcome to Paradise night club.
The acting is especially wonderful, some of the big players drastically change their appearance and you are less absorbed by their stardom and can see their acting instead.
A great crime thriller with some bits of bloody violence.
