Review of Carlito's Way (1993) by Dylan C — 27 Mar 2011
Very much a companion piece to DePalma's earlier, more popular gangster film Scarface, in that it takes place around the same period and features Pacino as a Puerto Rican criminal; however, rather than focusing on a man who wants the world and everything in it, Carlito's Way involves one who simply wants to abandon his past and start fresh.
A soulful lead performance and superb direction make this one of DePalma's best.
