Review of Carlito's Way (1993) by Robbie H — 06 Feb 2014
Love the dialogue in this movie. I grew up in Chicago in the 80's and 90's. This movie has so many truths in it. It's a true story of how street life was in the inner city during those times, before gentrification.
In the 50's and 60's white flight, left the inner cities with different type of opportunities. Street gangs had pretty much taken control in the 60's and the 70's. In the 70's a few guys had gotten connections to drug deal, and all of a sudden it became vogue.
Mafia guys acted like consultants, and wanted a cut. This movie is the part of history they don't teach you in text books. Anyone who doesn't like this movie, should only review Disney movies.
One of the greatest gangster movies ever!
