Even if you've seen a lot of movie about the criminal/mob underworld, "Carlito's Way" is exciting and fresh. There's a lot of tension throughout because you know that there is no way everyone is getting out "ok" in the end, but you come to like the characters despite their faults.
A few great scenes where the outcome comes with a genuine surprise and a particularly thrilling chase at the end make this an easy recommendation. (On Dvd, January 2012).
