Review of Carandiru (2003) by Alessandro B — 05 Jun 2008
The narration of daily life in prison,of the relationships between prisoners and of their stories, whether funny or not, is useful to drive us to the director point of view of the events but slows down the entire story which is focused on the last 30 minutes.I mean, it's a good movie because it makes you understand a totally different world like the one in brazilian prisons, but hasn't got a real story so someone might find it boring.i think it has to be seen more as a fictional documentary as it's based on true events.
Good casting & acting, helped by the script which is really true to life...also good direction! It's worth a view.
