Review of Caramel (2007) by Nick D — 17 May 2008
Reminded me of Pedro Almodovar's Volver, Michael Winterbottom's Wonderlaâ?? wait, stop ... I'm just listing other films about groups of women. Anyway, I just loved Caramel. The scene with the policeman gazing at Layale on the telephone, playing out a conversation with her, sticks in my mind most of all, followed by the ones of Rima washing her mysterious lady's hair.
At the end, there is a dedication. I can't remember a dedication ever having deepened my response to something in quite the same way.
