Review of Captains Courageous (1937) by Andrew S — 09 Jun 2007
The miracle cure for a rotten attitude: a summer aboard a fishing boat with Spencer Tracy and Lionel Barrymore.
An excellent movie that features two especially brilliant actors and two of the greatest child actors of the time. Spencer Tracy's Hurdy-Gurdy man (no, not the song!) is an interesting role for him that he pulls off quite well. The outstanding actors in the film, though, are Bartholomew and Barrymore. Barrymore plays one of the best fishing boat captains I have ever witnessed.
The movie is a fun experience and is an excellent family movie.
A great mix of action, adventure and friendship. This is one you can see and see again.
