Review of Captains Courageous (1937) by I Don't Know W — 11 May 2011
*** (out of four).
Spencer Tracy stars in his first of two consecutive Oscar Best Actor winning roles. He shows why he is truly one of the best actors of his generation.
Freddie Bartholomew is a rich kid who falls overboard of a ship. He is picked up by a fishing vessel full of hard working and uncouth fisherman. He is put to work on the boat, learing how to actually work.
Good performances and a script that is pretty engrossing. Not a home run, but a decent film.
