Very engaging thriller. Tom Hanks is the captain of a Maersk container ship. Barkhad Abdi a poor fisherman from Somalia join a few experience pirates to hunt for ship. The pirates in 2 small boats found Tom's ship isolate and decide to go for it.

Tom use the ship powerful speed and motor to make big waves. And also pretend to radio for help. The pirates intercept the radio and 1 boat u-turn. Barkhad continue to chase but eventually their small motor is exhausted.

Next day after fixing the motor, Barkhad kill another pirate who keep looking down on him. His boat attack the ship again. Tom activate the defense jet around the ship and one is spoil. The pirates climb up by the loophole and take over the control room.

The rest of the crew hides in the engine room. Tom has to stall time. He notice one without shoe and using secret radio talk, inform his hidden men to break glass. The shoeless guy hurt his feet. Barkhad alone check the engine room.

One of the man shut down the lights and they rest mugged Barkhad. Now they hold him hostage and want exchange. Tom teach them to use the escape boat and Barkhad seize the chance to knock him in and escape.

Finally the PTF Navy is notify and follow through. Navy SEALs are activated too. When the boat stop to negotiate, Tom inform them he is at which seat. The Navy secretly plant a audio device outside to monitor.

The pirates are reaching their land and Navy is stalling time. The ship pretend to haul the escape boat and invite Barkhad on board to meet the village elders and collect his money. 1 of the aggressive pirate who all along don't trust the Navy and challenge Barkhad is going to kill Tom.

The snipers wait for the good aim on all 3 inside and execute. Barkhad is caught alive. The real pirate is sentence to 33 years in prison. The real captain return to duty after 1 year plus of recovery and rest.
