Review of Captain Fantastic (2016) by Scott H — 01 Aug 2016
A powerful movie highlighted by a great, riveting performance from Viggo Mortensen and the supporting cast whose characters are perfectly and efficiently fleshed out. It's consistently funny and has a lot to say, though its commentary is undercut by its ending which conforms to the Hollywood norms it attempts so early and often to buck.
For the most part it's captivating, but once it gets to its climax it loses steams and seems confused about where it wanted to go from there. Overall still a good movie though.
