Review of Captain Fantastic (2016) by Andy S — 24 Sep 2018
Fucking great opener! Immediately grabs your attention and is interesting with all sorts of characters appearing out of nowhere. It's like Last of Us mixed with Lord of the Flies. So many questions I have already. What made the dad and family choose this kind of lifestyle? For how long have they been living like this? And for how long can they maintain living like this before someone snaps?
I don't see how a mother could do that to her children. She must have been really mentally unstable and chemically unbalanced. This hassle great character development and you can see how comfortable everyone is with each other.
This movie actually has some very funny moments. Like when the cop gets on the bus and they all start singing. It makes it even more clearer how normal it is to hide the detailed truth from our children to protect them when all it really does is confuse them or make them more curious. I like the way that the Grizzly dad has raised his kids not hiding anything from the kids.
This movie is powerful. It can definitely help to enlighten anyone that watches it. It's so true though. In the Christian community, a funeral is so depressing and mournful when it shouldn't be that way.
This movie has some genuinely funny moments. This was a very entertaining movie with great characters.
