Review of Captain Corelli's Mandolin (2001) by Naische F — 02 Jul 2008

Caught this one much after it had been originally released.. It had a nice flow and wonderful performances from all around. It reminded me a lot of a Monica Belluci picture from the late 1990s or some Giuseppe Tornatore picture, especially with the whole war-time context thing.

. Not a bad Hollywood effort that can rival the best of European ones (just look at how Michael Bay murdered 'Pearl Harbour'!)! It is interesting to note that with the exception of the lead actors, practically all the cast were non-Hollywooders! Heard that the original novel is much better, but not bad for what it is.
