Review of Captain Blood (1935) by Patrick B — 23 Dec 2008
It's as if they filmed two movies at the same time - Captain Blood and Robin Hood. We've got the core trio here, Erron Flynn, Olivia De Havilland, and Basil Rathbone, and they're all in their familiar roles of dashing handsome hero, the hard to get beauty, and the rival villain.
Somehow it doesn't work here for me. Errol seems like he's just looking pretty for the camera, and the story is not as involving. Also, I've never seen such well groomed, perfectly ironed, pirates.
We are always aware this is just for pretend. {Yawn!}.
