Review of Captain America: The First Avenger (2011) by Jeffrey M — 22 Apr 2014
A wonderful film, reminiscent of Indiana Jones. It has great heart, portraying the courageous and virtuous hero trapped in a scrawny body... until an experiment makes him a super soldier. Unfortunately, he's then relegated to stage and film as a fund raising gimmick.
Eventually, the hero proves his worth and sacrifices almost everything at the climax. I love the mysterious beginning, the 1940s feel, and the great action. The film get's bogged down a bit with the "Hydra" plot, but the Red Skull was portrayed very well.
