Review of Captain America: The First Avenger (2011) by Arslan K — 30 Apr 2015
After a solid beginning and three lackluster follow-ups, Marvel Studios decided that it was finally time for one of their most known characters to come into play: Captain America.
Steve Roger´s is a skinny and small man that wishes to enlist in the USA Army in order to fight Nazi's but due to its body condition he is not accepted. One day, a doctor who has developed a super soldier serum selects Steve as the test subject.
Out of the four heroes presented in Phase One, Captain America seem to be the weak link as it seem to be the most grounded character but he managed to surpass two of those heroes regarding stand alone films. "The First Avenger" is a well-made mediocre blockbuster that counts with mostly solid acting, a charismatic protagonist, a creative use of World War II setting, good action sequences, a villain that really is a menace, generic directing, a small amount of funny jokes, a balance regarding the comic book in-jokes, Marvel´s intervention is small compared to what they made in "Iron Man 2" and "Thor" and the capture the important elements of that particular time period.
"Captain America: The First Avenger" is an entertaining film that manages to entertain audiences from beginning to end.
