Review of Captain America: The First Avenger (2011) by Ben B — 21 Jul 2015
While Chris Evans is a perfect fit for the title character and Joe Johnston immerses you in the historical era, 'Captain America: The First Avenger' does not go beyond a solid Marvel film. One problem is its villain, Red Skull (Hugo Weaving).
Not particularly layered or menacing, Red Skull looks like a meaner version of The Mask (albeit not as badly executed). It also lacks as compelling a story as even Iron Man. Look at the latest Captain America to see why.
