Review of Captain America: The First Avenger (2011) by Arthur B — 15 Dec 2017
Thor, Iron Man 2, and The Incredible Hulk were let-downs, but Captain America turned out to be incredibly fantastic. Steve Rogers started off as a scrawny individual wanting to serve his country in WWII, but does not possess the physical capabilities to serve, so he is selected for a super-soldier and Howard Stark (Tony Stark's father) is the one in charge of the program. Chris Evans was absolutely phenomenal in this role. Captain America underwent significant changes in his development from a weak, scrawny guy into a devoted hero putting his life on the line to save others. The action was well-done and absolutely spectacular. Red Skull started off as a compelling villain and was definitely the best villain yet in the MCU at the time.
Then the final scene showing Rogers awake in present-day New York made it official that The Avengers will be the next Marvel film to be released.
