Review of Captain America: The First Avenger (2011) by Anna B — 05 Aug 2014
It takes both the good and the bad elements of the adventure serials that Johnston so desperately worships; it's kind of fun for the most part, but it's also pretty annoyingly stupid. Red Skull is never a threat.
His minions go down so easily and his plan is foiled so comprehensively before it even has a chance to get off the ground that I just ended up feeling sorry for him. Forget the tesseract, he's the Maguffin.
I loved Weaving's Herzog impression though. Almost made up for the bad parts.
