Review of Captain America: The First Avenger (2011) by John Eric D — 02 Jun 2015
I always see this Marvel film as a summary of everything on the life Captain America. I was definitely amazed by the visuals and the look on this one. Especially it is directed by Joe Johnston, well known for his film "The Rocketeer".
You can see the movie's grains as it was like in the 1940's. I do love the presentation they did. The visual effects when they make Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) thinner. That is some impressive work.
And then, here comes the Super soldier. Chris Evans fits the role very well. His physique and charisma is very Steve Rogers to me. And Hugo Weaving as Red skull, boy, is he good at everything? I freaking love his performance here.
He kills it. His performance as a villain is perfect at outmost. The last part was very intense. The fight between Red Skull and Capt. America is what I was looking for a Super Hero film. One thing I notice though, is the green screen in those fight scenes.
You can barely notice it. But it does not matter though. I do love the execution. Perfect villain, and a perfect protagonist in an awesome Marvel film. My 3rd best, in Phase 1 of the MCU. 4/5.
