Maybe the first film that broke the ground for all sorts of conspiracy theories on the big screen. A mission to Mars is aborted just seconds from lift off, and the crew is flown to a remote military facility.
Here, they must take part in a huge cover up and fake a Mars landing and the following TV transmission back to Earth. "Capricorn One", released in 1978, stars Elliott Gould as an investigative reporter.
Other big names here are James Brolin, O.J. Simpson (!), Telly Savalas, Hal Holbrook, Karen Black, Brenda Vaccaro, Sam Waterston, David Huddleston and Robert Walden.
